Chanel's No. 1 formulas contain up to 97% of ingredients of natural origin (according to ISO 16128). These formulas also include up to 76% of camellia derivatives, and petals, seeds and yeasts are used to avoid wasting any part of the plant. Each product contains up to 97 percent natural ingredients, most of which are derived from the red camellia flower.
For example, the revitalizing serum contains 76 percent of ingredients derived from camellia. Others, such as lip and cheek balm and foundation, contain red camellia moisturizing oil. In addition, all packaging is environmentally friendly, thanks to refillable glass tubes, bio-based plastics, recyclable cardboard and organic ink. This marks a major change for the luxury brand's beauty product line, although only Chanel's number 1 products will carry this level of sustainable packaging (for now).
